Three time model of the year Derek Zoolander is a likeable if shallow protagonist throughout this deliberately ridiculous comedy. A satire of the fashion industry, Zoolander whimsically deconstructs the vacuous personalities and situations that often inhabit it. The star-studded cast delivers some genuinely amusing lines, though the real joy comes in the form of Stiller’s frequent ‘model looks’ to camera. The plot (which includes an attempt to assassinate the Malaysian prime minister) is a secondary issue here, which is fortunate since it contains so many holes. Zoolander is a totally silly film and that is in no way a criticism.
